I understand that information about the practical components of the course are available in course handbooks and individual subject manuals and that practical class teachers are also able to provide detailed information about what is involved in particular learning activities.

I understand that as a physiotherapy student I have an ethical and legal obligation to provide appropriate information to other class participants in the same way that they are obliged to provide me with sufficient information to enable informed consent to participate in practical activities.

I understand that not every activity will be listed in the manual so at times extra explanation will be required so that I am aware of the requirements and expectations of my involvement (for example the need to remove clothing to practice massage, joint and muscle assessment and palpation).

I understand that if I feel an activity in a practical class might place me at risk of injury, I have an obligation to discuss any concerns with my fellow students and teacher before agreeing to participate.

I understand that I have given a general consent to participate in all aspects of the physiotherapy course by voluntarily enrolling in the degree. This means that there is a general expectation that I will participate and collaborate in all learning tasks associated with learning practical skills. I understand that attendance and participation in practical classes is mandatory for successful completion of PTY1022

I understand that I also have the right to ask questions about the consequences of participating in practical classes and an opportunity to refuse my consent if I have concerns about participating in a particular task. I understand that health care professionals (and students of these professions) are ethically and legally obligated to seek consent when asking others to engage in any activity. I understand that staff in the department of physiotherapy likewise respect my rights and seek my informed consent.
