At the end of each laboratory class, wash your hands and used instruments with soap and water.

Fully enclosed shoes and closed laboratory coats are required in labs.

Gloves should be disposed of in the general waste bin in the lab.

Wet specimens should be covered with towels provided to protect them from prolonged exposure to air at the end of each lab.

Gloves should be worn at all times when handling displayed wet specimens and models.

All tissues and specimens from the same donor are reconciled and prepared for cremation when the time allowed to keep a body comes to an end.

Laboratory coats should be put on in the corridor outside the lab before entering.

Photos of specimens can be taken in anatomy labs under strict supervision for studying purposes only.

No food or drinks are allowed in the labs, except water.

Prolonged exposure to brain specimens may cause discomfort or nausea due to the high concentration of formalin used.

In the event of an injury, students should notify their lab demonstrators and seek medical help.

Students are free to move wet specimens from one lab bench to another with the help of other students.

UNSW is notified when a registered (with prior consent) donor on the donor bequeathal program has passed away.

Donor specimens are kept in laboratory conditions for a standard 10 years before they are cremated and returned back to the family.

UNSW accepts donor bodies from next of kin (families of the deceased) consent.

UNSW receives donor bodies through an agreement between the hospital, the university, and the consent of the donor's family after their passing.
