A type of staff rotation whereby an employee is ‘seconded’ to another workplace for a certain period of time and then returns to his or her previous duties. This process can be internal, when employees are ‘seconded’ within the organisation (to another department, division or unit), and external, when employees are sent to work in another organisation, usually in a different industry.
