Guidelines for treatment of iron overdose advise treatment with deferoxamine at 15 mg/kg/hr with a maximum does of 80 mg/kg/24hrs.

Deferoxamine is supplied as a 500 mg vial, which is dissolved in 200 mL saline and the patient is treated with an infusion at a flow rate of 60 mL/hr.
