Download the LCOE_simple_examples file from the Moodle folder.

Modify one of the tabs in the spreadsheet to calculate the LCOE for a rooftop system with these details:

• Assume zero installation time, e.g. generation starts in the same year as installation.
• System size is 7.5kW
• Capital cost is $7000 minus a rebate of $40 per MWh for the generation over the next 5 years, assuming a 0.2 capacity factor
• assume a lifetime of 30 years with no degradation of the panels

i) What is the total capital cost? (2 marks)

ii) What is the LCOE in cents per kWh?  What is the LCOE in $/MWh? (6 marks)

iii) How does this compare to retail tariffs?  Does it look like a good investment? (2 marks)
