3.Human activities have significantly changed three quarters of the land surface and two thirds of the ocean area. From 2010 to 2015 alone, 32 million hectares of forest disappeared, and over the past 150 years, the living cover of coral reefs has halved. Glaciers are melting at an insane rate and at the same time, the level of acidification of the waters of the World Ocean is increasing, threatening its productivity. Wild species are disappearing dozens times faster than in the past 10 million years. Over the next 10 years, one in every four known species will disappear from the face of the planet. We are on the brink of mass extinction. If we are expected to continue moving on this path, the loss of biodiversity will have serious consequences for society, including the collapse of nutrition and health systems.
