Once the part cools, there will be residual stresses. Thus the part will be work hardened.

After major deformation, the majorly deformed crystals will recrystallize into smaller crystals and this results in improved mechanical properties.

The crystal grain alignment can be manipulated to give desired directional properties. (i.e, mechanical properties could be different in different directions)

The metal becomes malleable and can be more easily shaped.
