Professionalism in the workplace

Introduction

In our discussion about workplace bullying, we referred to some of the standards of expected behaviour in the workplace. The expression “medical professionalism” refers to the values and skills that our profession and society expects of doctors. According to the  Good Medical Practice code of conduct, this encompasses a core set of values such as respect, compassion, integrity and accountability, extending not only to patients but to our peers.
