You can manually restrain any animal for an X-ray if you are over 16

You must avoid manual restraint of animals for X-rays wherever possible, only a vet in some cases can manually restrain.  

You can assist with X-rays when you are pregnant if you wear a lead gown and gloves.

You can assist with X-rays but must be 1 metre away from the primary beam.
