These are soft, movable, subcutaneous nodules of adipocytes; overlying skin appears normal. They are very common, benign, and usually solitary. Common sites are the proximal extremities, trunk, and neck. Treatment is not usually required, but bothersome ones may be removed by excision or liposuction.
