The shaft shown in Figure 2 is subjected to loads at pulleys attached on each end, as shown. It is supported by bearings that allow free rotation of the shaft. 

The loads on the pulleys are V subscript 1 equals H subscript 1 equals377 and  V subscript 2 equals H subscript 2 equals888.

a) Determine the normal stress at section a minus a, a distance 0.22 from the first pulley, at position A on the cross-section.
