Why did Hurricane Katrina, which hit the south

coast of the USA in 2005, have such disproportionate impacts on certain groups

of people in New Orleans? Provide at least one example of 1) the social and

economic geographies that created pre-existing vulnerability for some

populations and 2) the failures in disaster prevention, preparedness or

response that exacerbated these.
