In the normal condition, pleural cavity is filled by air.

The parietal pleura is continuous with the visceral pleura at the hilum.

Pericarial cavity is between diaphragmatic and mediastinal surfaces of lung. 

The parietal pleura is supplied by the pulmonary circulation.

The fissures in lungs is usually covered by a layer of parietal pleura.
