If a painter mistakenly comes to my house to paint the outside trim and shutters instead of my neighbors house who contracted him for the work, and I say nothing to stop him and then refuse to pay him for his work, the court will find a Quasi-Contract ( or Implied-in-Law Contract) and will force me to pay reasonable compensation for the work/value I received.
