There are

many language tasks for which civilian specialists are not normally used, and

where serving personnel are required. These tasks range from sensitive

intelligence work behind the scenes to operations in action that may place

individuals in imminent danger. For this reason, the forces invest considerable

resources in developing the language expertise of some of their members.
