The competitive division of competencies between

the different UN bodies renders decision-making difficult.

The

UN is built on a co-operative (‘Kantian’) model, while states mostly operate in

a competitive way, guided by their short-term interests (‘Grotian model’).

The

UN cannot be successful since it is dominated by the 5 permanent member states

in the Security Council.
