Part 4: Voltage gated Na+ Channels
In the PhysioEx application Exercise 3 : Neurophysiology of Nerve Impulse; complete
Follow the prompts, there will be
1) A pre-lab quiz
2) A Simulation
3) Questions
4) Post-lab quiz.
These are all intended to help you master the material but will not be submitted for grading. Record the simulation data in the table in the corresponding lab assignment section. Do not do the Review Sheet Questions at the end of the activity . Instead, upon completion of the activity, answer the questions in the lab assignment section of this document.
Objectives:
By the end of this lab exercise, you should be able to:
· Label the different parts of a neuron and know their functions.
· Define and differentiate between the resting membrane, graded and action potentials
· Explain how changing the sodium and potassium concentration gradients can affect the resting membrane potential of a cell
·
· Define an action potential and describe the series of events that occur
· Describe how different toxins affect action potential generation
· Differentiate between absolute and relative refractory period
If two graphs have the same number of nodes and the set of degrees of the nodes are equal for both graphs then they are isomorphic.
If two graphs are isomorphic then every node has the same degree.
There are adjacency matrices which are not square.
