BIL 615 BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE

TRIMESTER: JANUARY 2026

FINAL EXAM (ONLINE)

 

QUESTION PAPER

 

 

 

 

 

 

TIME: 2 Hours

 

Instructions:

1.    This examination is out of 50 Marks and accounts for 40% of your final grade.

2.    The Examination has two sections. Section A is compulsory. Answer any two questions from section B.   You will therefore attempt a total of 3 questions

3.    This is a closed-book exam. Any form of cheating will earn a failing grade.

4.    Your Camera must be kept on throughout the exam period. Do not use headphones during the exam. Exchange of chats within the exam room is prohibited. The exam process is live and recorded.

5.    This is an online proctored exam. You are expected to accept the invitation to the proctor, failure to which you will be disqualified from the exam.

6.  Write your answers in-text (In the space provided) NO UPLOADS.

         Follow the instructions given carefully

 

 

Section A: Compulsory question (20Marks)

 

1.     (a). Discuss three pillars/components of the Christian worldview in detail, describing a non-Christian worldview which fundamentally disagrees with each specific component.                                                                                     (9Marks)

 

(b).  “Post-modernism is not practically livable.” With the use of relevant illustrations, give three justifications for this statement.                                             (6Marks)

 

c). Describe two practical ways in which embracing the Christian worldview might positively impact your personal conduct at your work station. (5Marks)

 

Section B: Answer two questions (30 Marks)

2.     Genesis chapters 1 – 3 are foundational in understanding God’s creation, the place of leadership in it and a Biblical approach to Christian service.

(a)        Giving specific examples from your context, analyze the challenge of leadership in society today at family, church and national levels.                                      (9 marks)

(b)       Elaborate any three ways in which an understanding of Genesis chapters 1 – 3 would be instrumental in shaping biblical foundations for Christian service for you as a transformational leader.                                                                 (6 marks)

3. “Justice is embedded in the Character of God and in His purpose for a flourishing society.” Critically evaluate this statement in the light of three aspects of justice. Use Biblical illustrations to support your response.                                (9 marks)

(b). You have recently been elected as the governor of your county. Demonstrate two ways in which you can utilize the Biblical understanding of distributive justice to enhance development in your county.                                                                     (6 marks)

 

 

 

4. “All authority of governments on earth originates from the Sovereignty of God alone.” (Abraham Kuyper)

“The Heavenly City, while in its pilgrimage on earth, calls citizens out of all nations… and so it cares nothing about differences in customs, laws, and institutions, by which earthly peace is attained.”  (Augustine of Hippo)

Considering these two statements:

(a). Discuss the relationship between the Kingdom of God and the earthly kingdoms. In your discussion, focus on three aspects.                                                (9 marks)

(b). Give three practical impacts on the allegiance of contemporary subjects to the two kingdoms.                                                                                                (6 Marks)

5. (a). Discuss three ethical principles of the Kingdom of God as taught and lived out by Jesus.                                                                                                    (6 Marks)

(b). Clearly demonstrate ways in which each of the principle discussed in 5a challenge contemporary Christian practice.                                                            (9 marks)
