Letting the client perform self-care as much as possible.

Rearranging the client’s furniture and equipment.

Keeping hallways and walkways free of equipment and clutter.

Ask the client what is wrong.

Bring up the subject later

Speak loudly and clearly so that the client can hear and understand better.

Go to the client’s care plan for instructions.

Speak clearly and gently using short sentences.

Do not make eye contact because this may stress the client.

Take a seat and wait till someone else can help you to understand what the client is saying.

Your voice should communicate warmth and respect.

Avoid using words like “see,” “look,” or “read.”

Use simple words and short sentences.

Speak loudly or shout.

The client is blind in the affected eye.

The client’s vision is cloudy.

The client cannot see to the side.
