Residual capacities can be negative

Reverse edge capacity is equal to the amount of flow that has been pushed in the forward direction.

If there is no path from source to sink in the residual network, the current flow is not maximum.

The residual network shows how much additional flow can be sent through each edge after some flow has already been assigned.
