Nikola Tesla: The Man Who Lit Up the World

Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan, which is now part of Croatia. From a young age, Tesla showed an extraordinary ability to visualize complex inventions in his mind before building them. He studied engineering and physics but did not graduate from university, yet his passion for electricity never faded.

In 1884, Tesla moved to the United States with little more than a letter of recommendation. He worked briefly for Thomas Edison, but they had different views on electrical systems. Edison promoted direct current (DC), while Tesla believed alternating current (AC) was far more efficient. Their rivalry became one of the most famous conflicts in scientific history.

Tesla's breakthrough came when he invented the AC induction motor, which allowed electricity to be transmitted over long distances. He also contributed to the development of radio, X-rays, and wireless communication. Despite his brilliance, Tesla struggled financially and died alone in a hotel room in New York City on January 7, 1943. Today, he is celebrated as one of history's greatest inventors, and his name lives on in the electric car company, Tesla, Inc.
