Teach the client when they have the urge to void, delay it for 10 minutes with the goal to go 2.5-3 hour between voids

Teach the client to void on a regular pattern every 2 to 3 hours instead of waiting until they need to void

Advise the client to reduce alcohol intake, acidic food and fluids

Instruct the client to void, wait 10 minutes and then attempt to void again
