The respiratory tract

is usually lined with a pseudostratified columnar epithelium with cilia, which

helps with the heating, humidification, and purification of the inhaled air

through its many functions. One exception is the surface of the right vocal

cords (plicae vocales) in the larynx. This part is highly mechanically stressed

and is covered by a more resistant epithelium. What epithelium is it?
