UNSW is notified when a registered (with prior consent) donor on the donor bequeathal program has passed away.

Donor specimens are kept in laboratory conditions for a standard 10 years before they are cremated and returned back to the family.

UNSW accepts donor bodies from next of kin (families of the deceased) consent.

UNSW receives donor bodies through an agreement between the hospital, the university, and the consent of the donor's family after their passing.
