A single set of global goals covering the 5 Ps permits to follow up on the objectives of the unfinished business of the MDGs, Rio+20 decisions, as well as to account for the importance of peaceful and inclusive societies and partnerships in a holistic manner

The convergence of the MDGs and sustainable development tracks has reinvigorated the three-dimensional understanding of sustainable development

Poverty eradication and sustainable development are inextricably linked and should be dealt with in a holistic way

The “unfinished business” of the MDGs is of no relevance after 2015

The MDGs track has led to the design of the first 8 MDGs while the Rio track proposed the remaining goals. UN Member States then decided to put them together and call them SDGs
