No electronic devices are allowed into the facilities and must be stored in a locker for the duration of the practical session. This includes: mobile phones, smartwatches, any device with an integrate camera, laptops, and tablet computers. Any object with the ability to take pictures is prohibited in this space. Photography and/or recording is strictly prohibited anywhere in the anatomy facilities. Photography and/or recording of human tissue (including bones) is strictly prohibited.
For this course, PPE includes: a lab coat and closed-shoes that provide coverage of both the toes, heel, and the top of the foot. These shoes must be appropriate for use in a lab environment (non slip).
I acknowledge it is my responsibility to ensure that I will provide my own PPE including a lab coat for use during these sessions and understand alternatives cannot be borrowed or loaned from Clayton staff. Disposable lab coats are available at the students’ expense from a vending machine on the Ground floor.
I acknowledge that I will at all times be respectful of the human donor specimens.
SAFETY PROCEDURES
The anatomy laboratory learning spaces are a safe working environment. This code of conduct has been developed in order to minimise any risks or Hazards in working in this environment.
In dealing with any accidents please observe the following guidelines.
Hazard minimisation:
· Fixative solutions in use in the laboratory have been modified in recent years to minimise potential hazards. Nevertheless, as with any reagents skin contact should be avoided by the use of disposable gloves (provided) when interacting with Human tissue. In the interests of safety, formaldehyde levels are periodically monitored in the laboratory. Recent results indicate that levels are well within acceptable limits
· Any spillage should be marked and cleaned up immediately. In the event of a significant spill a staff member should be alerted. The area should be marked and the Centre Curator (Mr Stephen Thompson) advised.
· Many of the potted specimens are heavy and should not be moved.
· In the event that you have or become aware of any medical condition that may affect your ability to work in this laboratory please advise your demonstrator/facilitator or the senior staff member coordinating your subject
Personal injury (minor)
Contact first aid
officer within building (Mr Stephen Thompson) for treatment and advise
facilitator. A first aid kit is available in room CG38 located in the
Dissection Room.
Send injured person to
Campus medical centre/campus nurse if necessary.
Complete Hazard and
Incident Report Form available from Stephen Thompson.
Personal injury (major)
Send someone to ring Security on 333 on any internal phone. Provide
information as guided by staff.
OR
Dial 000 then ring Security as above.
Contact campus medical centre (Ext. 53175) if
necessary.

Emergency procedures
This building is fitted with an emergency
warning system
If you become aware of an emergency activate
the nearest Break Glass Alarm or dial 333.
An ALERT is signalled by a beep beep
tone. In the event of an alert secure all equipment in a safe
manner and prepare to evacuate the building.
EVACUATE is indicated by a whooping
tone. In the event of an evacuation signal leave by the nearest
safe exit. Assembly point for this area is the garden on the
Menzies side of Building 13C (east side of the building).
Do not leave the assembly areas or attempt to
re-enter the building until the ALL CLEAR has sounded.

I acknowledge that, in addition to being prohibited access to the School of Anatomy Act spaces, if I breach any aspect of this contract, I may be subject to disciplinary action by the University under Part 7 of the Monash University (Council) Regulations. Disciplinary action may result in Suspension or possible exclusion from your course.
All practical sessions begin promptly and rotations between activities will proceed based on the timetable. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to arrive to the facilities with sufficient time to secure my belongings in the lockers and to be in the appropriate rooms for the start of my session.
I acknowledge that staff and demonstrators reserve the right to prohibit my access to the School of Anatomy Act learning spaces if I am found to be in non-compliance with any of these items above.
I acknowledge that professional behaviour and respect for the human donors includes coming prepared for class and maximizing your unique opportunity to examine human cadaver material. This also includes respectful behaviour about the donor material outside of class.
