Pilots must be able to depart from any intersection.

It is always safer to use a shorter runway as the runway occupancy time is less.

Unless pilots are told to expect intersections via the airport's AIP, pilots shall be asked if they are able to depart from an intersection.

Intersections can be used to sequence departures.

Clearance up to the transfer point of the next station

No conflict with other traffic

Pilot reaches the transfer point within the next 60 seconds

No further instructions from you necessary

Pilot has reported "ready for departure"

Pilot reaches the transfer point within the next 30 seconds

The taxiway the aircraft will push onto wil be blocked for a few minutes, so preplanning is required.

Pushback and startup clearances must always be given together.

A direction should be given with the clearance, unless the direction is obvious/unambiguous due to the airport layout.
