the phospholipid forms a monolayer, whereas in inset C, it forms a bilayer to

enclose the cell membrane. This way, in inset C, aqueous solution can be both

inside and outside the cell membrane. 

In A and B,

the phospholipid forms a bilayer at the top layer and the triglycerides are

present at the core.

In A and B,

having a phospholipid monolayer ensures that nonpolar molecules like

triglycerides can be carried at the hydrophobic core. At the same time, the

surface of the lipoprotein is hydrophilic and hence the overall molecule can be

easily transported via aqueous fluids like blood.

water/aqueous media is present significantly both inside and outside the

phospholipid mono layer.
