The Socioecological Model of Health depicts health as being influenced by factors at multiple levels, from the intrapersonal/individual through to policies/systems, requiring interventions at each of the four levels to be most effective. The four levels are:
1) Intrapersonal/Individual
2) Interpersonal
3) Settings (organisation and community level)
4) Policy and systems
Task: You are a consultant nutritionist working alongside a multidisciplinary allied health team which includes a social worker, physiotherapist and occupational therapist at Bill’s local council. Using the Socioecological Model of Health, identify and explain two potential challenges/factors and propose and explain two strategies/interventions at each of the four levels that influence Bill’s nutrition, access to healthy food, meal preparation habits, and overall well-being:
1) Intrapersonal/Individual
2) Interpersonal
3) Settings (organisation and community level)
4) Policy and systems
For each level, provide:
· Two challenges/factors (explained).
· Two strategies/interventions (explained).
2 marks for each explained challenge/factor and 2 marks for each explained strategy/intervention under each of the four levels. (16 marks total).
Define what downstream interventions are (2 marks) and identify two downstream approaches to address food insecurity that are mentioned in the video (2 marks). (4 marks total)
Choose THREE key nutrition recommendations you would give to Sara that are specifically important for her stage of life. For each recommendation, explain why it is important in her situation.
1 mark for each clear and relevant recommendation + 1 mark for explaining its importance in context (6 marks total)
