VoxPop did a survey to find out the reasons why Indonesian Gen Zs work in their current roles, even when the jobs are outside their comfort zones. According to the results, 37% of respondents state that opportunities for growth and learning keep them in their current positions. A strategic work location (13%), career stability (15%), and great salaries and benefits (28%) are further factors. In addition, 7% of Gen Z respondents state that their support from superiors and coworkers keeps them in their positions.

On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, VoxPop reported on their official Instagram account, "Many Gen Z workers stay in jobs outside their comfort zone, not because it's easy, but because it gives something more to continual learning, development, and valuable support." Experts Warn Gen Z on Staying Too Long in Comfort Zone

Therapists assume GenZ may miss out on many different experiences because of their overly cautious behavior when taking risks. From the experts who talked with The Guardian, young people increasingly decide to remain in a comfort zone of small, like-minded networks, with more of their social interaction done virtually.

While this allows them more control over some aspects of their lives, it can also cause anxiety when they need to interact with others offline.

When this generation is faced with the reality of being in an office or a social gathering, I'm seeing a disproportionate increase in suggestions for social anxiety, professional anxiety, general self-confidence, and relationship issues, said Natalie Phillips, a psychotherapist who works with young people. "I do believe that this generation may be losing out on making mistakes and the opportunity to experience youth. They seem older for their time, in my opinion."

She works with many people who are also working from home and communicating with coworkers online, and it makes them more difficult to meet new people compared to previous generations. That can be risky, according to Phillips. "You run the risk of your world turning inward, which can lead to continuous anxiety. You lack the experience to deal with the outside world, which makes it even scarier" she added.

A Morning in the Hotel Kitchen

Last week, we had a class trip to the kitchen of Avedha Garden Hotel. Since many of us are studying culinary arts, we were all excited (and a little nervous!) to see how a real hotel kitchen works during busy hours.

We arrived early in the morning, just before breakfast service had started. The kitchen was full of energy. Chefs moved quickly, shouting short instructions, while assistants chopped vegetables, prepared sauces, and cleaned surfaces.

The kitchen was divided into several stations. There was a hot kitchen for cooking main dishes, a cold station for salads and desserts, and a pastry area for bread and cakes. Each station had its own tools and ingredients ready to go. The air smelled of butter, herbs, and something sweet; maybe freshly baked pastries.

We were guided by the head chef, who showed us how important timing and teamwork are in the kitchen. One small mistake, like overcooking a steak or forgetting a sauce, could delay the whole order. Every move had to be fast but careful.

We also saw the storage rooms, which were super organized. Meats, vegetables, spices, and dairy were all kept in separate coolers. Hygiene was clearly a top priority. Everyone wore gloves, aprons, and hats or hairnets.

Before we left, the pastry chef let us taste some mini croissants and explained how they were made. They were delicious!

The whole experience showed us that professional cooking is not just about recipes. It's about precision, speed, and communication. After that visit, I felt even more motivated to keep improving my skills.

My 3 Days in Yogyakarta

Last month. I spent three incredible days in Yogyakarta with two of my dosest friends. We wanted a trip that combined culture, cuisine, and nature--and this trip delivered all of that.

On the first day, we arrived early in the morning at Tugu Station and took a taxi to our hotel in the Prawirotaman area. After checking in we walked to Kadipiro for brunch. The local soup was warm and bursting with flavor -just what we needed after a long train journey.

Then, we visited Gamplong, where we saw old movie sets and took lots of photos. It felt like stepping back in time. For lunch, we dined at fina lawi Resto, a quiet spot serving excellent local dishes. In the afternoon, we enjoyed coffee at Bertamu, which was cozy and relaxing.

That night, we had dinner and live music at Omah Prasaja, which had a great traditional atmosphere and friendly staff.

Day two was dedicated to adventure. After walking for a bit and having our breakfast at Warung Laras, we drove to Jomblang Cave. The cave was deep and dark, but also breathtakingly beautiful. We wore helmets and boots, with our guide ensuring our safety. Afterwards, we had fresh seafood for lunch at Kedai Lobster, and in the evening, we visited Wade Ocean View. We ate while listening to the sound of the waves as we enjoyed the sunset by the sea. It was the most relaxing part of the trip.

On the final day, we took it easy. After breakfast, we wandered around Malioboro and picked up some souvenirs-batik shirts, snacks, and small crafts. Before heading to the station, we enjoyed our last meal at Gudeg Mbak Yu. It was the perfect way to conclude our visit.

I'm so glad we went to Yogyakarta. It wasn't just fun; it was also rejuvenating and filled with memories I won't forget.

My Favorite Shoes

I have a preference for running shoes. I run three times a week, so loften use my pairs, but that is not the reason why I like that particular type of shoe. Rather, 1 find them to be incredibly comfortable, durable, versatile, and fashionable.

Running shoes do not constrain my feet. I never feel hurt any time I use them. Most running shoes are designed to be wearable for a long time and tough as nails; I don't have to worry when / wear them throughout the day. Aside from sports, I can also wear running shoes to many places. Whether it's to go to school, to hang out with my friends, or even to places where I accompany my parents when they're going out, running shoes are my favorite pick. Moreover, nowadays running shoes come with different and interesting models and colors. For casual wear, an eye-catching color on your feet is a must.

Currently, 1 have red, black, and purple pairs. My favorite pair is the purple ones. They feature two gradient black-to-gray stripes on the outer side. The sole is white, adorned with a circular black pattern on the bottom.

My favorite shoes have a flat surface and do not have heels. They come with gray shoelaces and two straps that secure the eyestays, ensuring the tongues remains in stable positions. The insole is crafted from foam rubber and is gray in color, providing exceptional softness and comfort.

Once upon a time in Central Java, there lived a great king called Prabu Baka. He was a ruthless and selfish ruler of the Baka Kingdom. One day, he wanted to expand his kingdom by invading a neighboring kingdom, the Pengging Kingdom. Prabu Baka's troops attacked Pengging, leading to a war that wrecked both sides.

Devastated and furious by the war brought upon his kingdom, a prince from the Pengging Kingdom named Bandung Bondowoso led the war against the Baka Kingdom's invasion. Bandung Bondowoso fought Prabu Baka and victoriously slew the king in a battle. Returning to Baka Kingdom, the defeated forces informed Prabu Baka's daughter, Roro Jonggrang, of her father's death.

Roro Jonggrang was in grief when Bandung Bondowoso came and conquered the Baka Kingdom. When he saw the captivating beauty of RoroJonggrang, Bandung Bondowoso fell in love with her and proposed to her. Roro Jonggrang was afraid and felt unable to directly reject her father's slayer. So, Roro Jonggrang requested that Bandung Bondowoso build a thousand temples in one night. The temples had to be finished before the sun came out in the morning in exchange for RoroJonggrang accepting his marriage proposal. Bandung Bondowoso agreed to the request and used his sorcery to finish the temple in one night with the help of powerful spirits. The sorcerer then steadily constructed the temples.

The sorcerer's progress made Roro Jonggrang worried. To stop the construction, the princess called out to all of her maids to start a fire in the east and to begin pounding rice on the paddies early before dawn. The light and the noise awakened the roosters around the rice paddies, and then they crowed. Tricked by the fire, the rice pounding, and the crowing, the spirits retreated into their supernatural realm, leaving only one temple incomplete just before the sunrise. Bandung Bondowoso was aware of her deception and was filled with wrath. He then used his sorcery to transform Roro Jonggrang into a statue. The sorcerer used the statue to complete the requested temples and then offered them to Durga, the goddess of devastation.

Once, there was a young orphan who lived in North Sumatra. The young man made his living through farming and fishing. One day while he was fishing, he caught a stunning golden-brown fish. When he held the fish, it transformed into a beautiful woman. This woman was cursed to be a fish for breaking a rule. The young man's touch transformed her back into a human.

The young man, mesmerized by her attractiveness, proposed to her. She accepted, but only on the condition that he never expose her curse as a fish. He said yes to the demand, and then they married. The young man then became a father when the couple had a son. However, their son had a horrible habit of always craving more food and devouring everything in sight.

One day, the kid ate all of the food intended for his father who was working at the farmland. In his fury, the father revealed the truth of his wife's origin. His wife cried in distress. He had betrayed his promise. Suddenly, his wife and son disappeared. He looked for them everywhere until he came back to his home. In the middle of his house, a puddle started to appear. Slowly but surely the puddle was getting bigger and bigger until it formed springs. The springs arose from the land where their house had stood. The water from these springs continued to flow and expand, eventually creating the immense Toba Lake as we know today.

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Bawang Putih who lived only with her father because her mother had passed away from illness when Bawang Putih was still young. Later, her father remarried a woman who also had a daughter, Bawang Merah. He thought that the woman could become a nurturing mother figure to Bawang Putih. When the father passed away, the woman turned out to be a cruel and black-hearted stepmother and Bawang Merah was not so different from her mother. Both of them treated Bawang Putih poorly, ordering her to do all the chores in their house and harshly yelling at her for any mistake however small it was.

One day, Bawang Putih was instructed by her stepmother to wash several basketfuls of clothes in a river. Bawang Putih obeyed the orders and headed toward the river. Overwhelmed by her struggles, Bawang Putih wept by the river. Suddenly, a magic talking fish appeared and asked her why she was crying. Bawang Putih shared her problems regarding the harsh treatments she received from her stepmother and Bawang Merah with the fish. Eventually, Bawang Putih felt better after talking with the magic fish while washing the clothes.

Impressed by Bawang Putih's diligence and kindness, the magic fish gave her a magical and unique flower that could grant her wishes and told her to keep it safe. As soon as Bawang Putih arrived home, she shared the good news about the flower with Bawang Merah. Bawang Merah, who was wicked and prone to jealousy, stole the flower. She aimed to use it for her own benefit. But when she held the flower and said her wishes, nothing happened. Bawang Merah then planned to meet the magic fish herself.

The following day, Bawang Merah pretended to wash some clothes in the river when the magic fish appeared Instead of inquiring about her tears, the fish reprimanded her for taking Bawang Putih's flower and warned her that she would face consequences for her deeds. Suddenly, the magic flower that Bawang Merah had stolen then transformed into a handful of venomous insects. Bawang Merah ran away and was scared away from the river ever since.

Bawang Putih returned to the river to apologize to the magic fish day after day, feeling guilty for telling Bawang Merah about the magical flower, but it never came to meet her. Unbeknownst to Bawang Putih, the magic fish was pushing a ship, which was sailed by a kind and wealthy prince, to where Bawang Putih stood and waited for the fish by the river. There she met the prince who then asked for her hand in marriage. Then, the couple lived happily ever after.
